Zero Waste Symposium - Sonoma County

Zero Waste Symposium

The 2nd annual Sonoma County Zero Waste Symposium will take place at Somo Village Events Center in Rohnert Park, 8am-5pm. Building on the success of the 2017 ZWS, organizers are expanding the event into Zero Waste Week, May 6-12, 2018, which will include Race to Zero, a 5k footrace, and a public creek cleanup conducted by Clean River Alliance.

Captain Charles Moore keynotes the Zero Waste Symposium. Captain Charles Moore has dedicated his time and resources to understanding and remediating the ocean’s plastic load. His work has been featured on Good Morning America, Late Night with David Letterman, Nightline, the Colbert Report, and the National Geographic special “Strange Days on Planet Earth.”

Clean River Alliance director Chris Brokate will give a presentation on the impacts of trash in watersheds.

Sonoma County Zero Waste Symposium showcases zero waste policies, programs and infrastructure that design waste out of the system wherever possible and divert discarded materials through composting, reclaiming, reducing, reusing, and recycling.
